your project started. | Web Development Costs
aae Designs uses two pricing methods for projects. You can choose to
have your costs determined dynamically at the end of a project or for a fixed
rate at the beginning. Dynamic pricing will usually be the lowest option
since there is no guess work involved in determining fees. If you choose
dynamic fees, you will receive a possible fee range and an estimate. Your
bill will not exceed the highest value of the fee range. If the project
takes more time, then that work will be done for free. In this way dynamic
pricing shares some of the characteristics of fixed fee pricing. You can
earn money back on commissions - potentially reducing your own
costs to nothing!
How Costs Are Determined
Fees are based primarily on a $40 per hour base cost. aae Designs uses
an hourly fee schedule because of how much two similarly sized websites can
differ in time requirements. Clients should not be charged for work that
may or may not need to be completed. Some work clients request lends
itself to easy use in other sites. Such work is often discounted.
Such components are billed as fixed fees if they are used in a later client's
site. Discounts and fixed fees are included in all estimates.
Third Party Fees
Some services which I client needs can be provided for less money by a third
party than they can by aae Designs. Taking advantage of these
opportunities is one of the many examples of the emphasis on doing what is best
for client here. The most common service of this type is web hosting. In
all such cases, clients will get the benefit of support from aae Designs, while
at the same time getting the advantages the third party supplier can provide.
Any third party fees will also be mentioned when the cost estimate is provided.
So How Much in the End?
While complexity of a project varies greatly depending on the content, here
are some basic guidelines. A static 8-10 page site without excessive amounts of
text formatting or graphics will cost about $600 to develop. Smaller sites cost less,
though rarely less than $400 because of the initial design time is usually about the same.
Likewise, a larger static site (say 20 pages) is likely to cost around $900. Basic
database support usually adds approximate $200 to the cost. More complex database
usage (such as that in online shops, web directories, etc) take considerably more time
to complete. Because of the complexity of such sites and the wide range of variables
(such as the number of products in an online shop), please contact
aae Designs for a quote.
